Austin String Band Festival

It’s one of the best-kept secrets in the Austin area, a music festival with small crowds, a lovely natural setting and close-in parking.

Come discover the Austin String Band Festival out at Camp Ben McCulloch (right by the Salt Lick) in Driftwood. TX. Dance all night on Friday, then attend hands-on music and dance workshops under the trees early on Saturday, then kick back for a day and night of nonstop fiddles, banjos and guitars as more than two dozen bands take the stage. Sunday wraps it up with a gospel jam. Camping at its finest along Onion Creek.

Mid-Winter Festival

The AFTM Mid-Winter Festival is the event that started it all!  It celebrates all kinds of Austin-area traditional music and dance and features performances, jams and workshops with a diverse selection of wonderful local performers.

Held in late January, this festival usually features 12 local traditional bands in 12 hours, along with workshops, jam sessions, and a silet auction. The festival also promotes designating the month of January in Austin as Folk Music and Dance Month in conjunction with the national and international observance.

Mid-Winter Festival 2018 dates to be announced.
